Public Agencies Distribute Grant Money

There are several billion dollars budgeted to the central grant program each year. This money is utilized to support a variety of programs. There is money for specific groups or industries as well as funding that is earmarked for specific projects.
To run such a big program with so many individual areas of interest the government uses several agencies. There are 26 agencies in total and they are responsible for maintaining the daily operations for grant initiatives. These agencies are in charge of developing precise funding initiative guidelines and oversee the awards process.
For any individuals to receive national money through a grant program they are obligated work with one of the twenty six departments. Outlined below are several of the agencies that are in charge of running public grant initiatives.
Department of Defense The head of the distinct military branches and in charge of making sure that the US is able to protect itself from attack, the DoD is one of the most important grant agencies. Their are 5 primary areas the DoD focuses its efforts; engaging in armed conflicts, keeping the peace, ensuring safety at home, Assistance for Humanitarian Causes, and evacuation from disasters.
Department of the Interior The Department of the Interior protects the nation’s natural resources including public forests and coastal preserves. The administrative organization is at the forefront of protecting the United States’ cultural history including Native American development.
Department of Justice The Justice Department has a central part in the enforcement of justice at the federal level. The agency is accountable for overseeing the safety of the public. This is accomplished through promotion of just punishment for guilty perpetrators and fair administration of justice for every American.
Department of Health and Human Services The Congress’s primary organization for protecting the health of citizens is the Department of Health and Human Services. This agency strives to ensure the welfare of every Americans by covering necessary health needs to those that are seeking help.
